I have an unwritten (until now, I suppose) resolution to get myself more organized in the classroom.  I have a tendency to be a last-minute-fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants-wow-that-worked-despite-my-crazy-disorganized-ways kind of a teacher (who am I kidding — every aspect of my life is that way).

But, I spent about 8 hours in my classroom last Sunday getting organized.  The paper monster on one of my tables was tamed and beaten into submission. Now it is merely a 2 foot high pile of “To Be Filed” papers.  (Yes, I know that’s not actually a good thing!)  The sense of peace and breathing room I feel now that I can see the surface of my desk and the storage unit behind my desk is fantastic.

I didn’t get enough actual curriculum organized but still I accomplished something and it’s working.

I’m realistic enough to wonder when I’ll get swept under again.  I hope that I’ll be able to remember that a few hours of decluttering is an amazing sanity saver.
